Help with splines

I'm stuck with series of splines (created by somebody else) that are wayyyy to complicated. For example, the spline I'm currently looking at has over 450 segments. I know enough to know that it should take less than 50 segments, probably closer to 25.

Anybody know an easy method to change these these?

Tricky question since reducing the number of segments will sooner or later change the shape of the spline, and that shape change is the difficult thing to judge, -is it better or did i go too far.
Anyhow, 1) do an information - object and pick the spline, note degree and number of segments.
2) Insert - Curve - Fit Spline - then press the "Edit Spline" button in the bottom right - pick the spline - pick the first icon in dialog ( the dialog will then default into the number of segments that the last edit finalized on.. which probably changes the shape radically) enter remembered number of "existing" segments and try from there .

Tomas

Do you know what the creation method was? Sometimes you extract a curve off of other geometry and you end up with a complicated spline.

What is the degree of the spline, and is it a studio spline?
