I am trying to cut 5/8" mild steel with a 2000 watt mazak...I keep leaving dross on the bottom and like welding it back together. If I increase the air I get a wide curf on the top. Here is my cut peramiter I am using..

I have never cut .625" material before but i would start by raising your focus, this will give you a wider beam, thus a wider kerf. (The last time i cut .38" steel i had my focus set at .05" above the material). You need a wider kerf in order to remove all of your material cleanly, but raising your focus will be pointless unless you also use a wider nozzle, which gives you a larger gas flow. You might also want to try going a little bigger than your .077" nozzle. I also saw you are using m69, which i believe is a pulse mode or a pulse cancel. Try running with 100% duty. What type of resonator do you have?

Hey thanks fab3. I will try that and see what happens. Maybe raise the focus about .08" above..and get rid if the M69..(It is a normal pulse mode command)..Do you think G87P00 should be raised as well? Maybe like G87P15 or something?

Im not sure what the g87p does, maybe power ramping or a change in focus. Anyway judging by the rest of the code it looks like you have a mazak laser, probably with a panasonic or prc resonator depending on its age. If you dont like running 100% duty (continuous wave) try using m67, this is "hyperpulse" on prc resonators...if you have one its the best option for pulsing most materials, besides small holes.
