When i change the linetype of an existing line i do not see the effects on the screen, so my question is why dont i c the effect of it on the line im trying to change into a different linetype.

i may have a good idea why although im not so sure.............

p.s I think it may have something to do with my scaling of the line im trying to apply it to, cuz i applied the same linetype to a different line, lets say a bigger one and you could see the effect taking place right away

It's either a display driver issue, a paper space / model space issue or your LTScale needs adjusting. Does the line print properly?

Check Modify/Properties and click on the line and see what Linetype Scale is...

Cool, Imma try regenarating it see if that works, i already changed the scale of the LT and its still the same thing. Also imma print it to see if that could also be it.

thanks

Did you type LTSCALE on the command line? If you did the default value would have <1> so change it to the scale factor--you may have to regen. The scale factor is the ratio of the right hand value to the left hand value of the drawing scale. So if you drawing scale is 1/2"=1' then the scale factor is 1'/ 1/4" but make sure the units are the same in the numerator and denominator. The scale factor for the example is 24 which is the number needed in the LTSCALE command. When you get in layout and open the drawing with a viewport, that same line may appear solid, so type PSSCALE and the switch will be set on default <1>, so change that value with zero <0>; before you regen make sure the bottom tab is on "model" space, not "paper".
