trickle ventilation
Looking some guidance on background ventilation to a community building Im working on. Building Control are asking for a mechanical vent system to be installed. Surely there has to be a simpler alternative to this eg holes in walls, vents in roof. Problem is our funder wants it complete by end of the month and we need something simple to get us over the line. The hall is about 15 x 21 metres floor area and approx 5.5 metre high to eaves

Paddy , are you looking for something that you'll put your professional stamp on , or something that looks like it was put together by " paddy the builder" down the road??. If you've only got a 15 day window , I hope its the latter

In what part of the world do you live in, and what sort of usage is this building meant for, that a "hole in the wall" could be in any way a substitute for a proper thermostatically-controlled forced-ventilation HVAC system?

Without knowing the relevant building regulations and why the inspector thinks this way we have no idea.

This is something the architect or designer should have thought about before you started building it....

There are companies that do natural ventilation like
But to get anything over the line you'll need to being the inspector with you. Try talking to him or her first.

Thanks for replies folks- yes the problem stemmed from the construction started before the actual plans were fully approved by our building control, sounds crazy but the reason for this was that the funders were holding us to a very tight time frame for completion.
