Hi everyone, I have no detailed knowledge about material properties. I want to know which material is better for wear resistance property C - 42 or D2 after Heat treatment and which is better. Please give some details of these materials.

Please ignore any mistakes to make this post because I make it the very first time.

A loaded question, and the true answer is really dependent on wear conditions your part will see. Looking at the most gross level, you should ask yourself the basic question: which material is harder? You'll have to do the legwork to come up with the answer to that question.

It depends on the wear mechanism. Is it abrasion, fretting, what about temperature and lubrication, is there any corrosion, and so on.
