Hi, I am a mechanical engineer and have been working in the maintenance sector for about 3 years now. Now, I am thinking of changing my career path and going for an MSc or MEng in computational science and engineering. I have always loved working with different software packages and solving engineering problems using these. I know, ideally I should have never gotten into maintenance but due to some personal reasons, I started working there. Now that i can leave my job and go for graduate studies, which university do you think is the best in Computational science and engineering and does not have a very high tuition.

OK, but that's still a wide reach. Now, or course, "best" and "does not have a very high tuition" tend to be mutually exclusive. As a foreign student, even our state universities will run a lot. I'm partial to UC Berkeley, because it is at least one of the best, but for foreign students:

the cost is probably comparable to the less expensive private universities. There are lots of lists of "best" colleges like:

Likewise there are lots of lists of "best" return colleges like:

Note that UC Berkeley is near the top of both lists.

You now need to look at budgeting questions.

Thanks, but the rankings that you've showed seem to be for computer science major. Is there a similar list for "computational science and engineering"? or should a list for applied mathematics or mechanical engineering be relevant?

Bauman moscow state technology university has a decent rep for engineering. Tuition is 4000 a year for postgrads. A PhD at Cambridge university will be about 40000 dollars a year for tuition, plus some extortionate amount for a freezing bedsit. The beer's cheap.

So it rather depends on what you want.
