BS5467/6346/6460 state the duration for Hi-pot test is 15 minutes(I myself did not check BS). It is understood that 5 miniutes is long enough to verify test.
Is there any reason to extend it up to 15 minutes ?

It is Dielectric test(High Potential test).

I believe benlanz knows what a HiPot test is....the question is "WHAT are you HiPotting"?

Sorry for misunderstanding.
What I mean is Hi-pot testing for switchboard.

Switchboard tests of this type are usually for 1 min max. 15 min test is usually only for cable Acceptance testing(per NETA).

A switchgear bus bar or vacuum bottle test should be performed using AC voltage and for one minute. It is a go/no-go test.

Can anyone recommend a site with good basic literatute on the basics of Hi-Pot tetsing and megger testing. Looking for when to use Hi pot test and if it's typically used on equipment 600v and below.
