What is the output of an HID lighting ballast? My understanding is it’s a high freq type AC with high starting voltage, and then a voltage that adjusts as the light heats up, I assume still AC of some high freq? Is this correct? The main (not only) reason I ask is this: we have ballasts and lights, most of the ballast have wires coming out of them for the lights, which is ok, but we want a portable type system so we want to put the lights on plugs and the ballasts on plugs. Well, the question arises, what would be the correct type of plug to use, a 240v type outlet or something special? Sorry if this seems simple to some, but I usually work in Automation/ Electronics not lighting type things.
