Hidden lines appearing when zooming out on solid.

I've got a hollowed out part and when I zoom out then some of the internal edges start to appear on the outside of the part.

I've had a few people look at the file and some have the problem and some don't. We suspect that it might be to do with using dual screens.

I'm just wondering whether anyone else has experienced the same problem.

This is on NX6 running a March 2010 patch.

It could be a graphics thing I just can't tell from that image it is too low in resolution.

I've noticed this behaviour ever since we started using NX (NX5 to NX7). If you change your shading to shaded with edges hidden you will not see the internal edges, or if you change the thickness of the edges to thin in the preferences they wont show up as much. We too have dual screens so I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

This doesn't really bother us much, it seems as though it occurs as when you zoom out the geometry gets smaller but the line thickness of the edges remains the same so eventually the edges will show through thin walled geometry. Just a guess can anyone confirm this?

Are these 'hollow' parts with very thin wall-thicknesses? If so, try going to...

Preferences -> Visualization -> Faceting

...change the 'Shaded Views' Tolerance to something 'Finer'.

Also, if you viewing the model in Perspective you may want to reset the Clipping Planes using the 'Edit Camera' dialog.

OK, thanks. I tried that but it didn't solve the problem.

I've found out that the problem also affects hidden-line wire frame. The hidden lines start coming through as I zoom out.

Definitely graphics to do with faceting rather than lines showing through from hidden geometry by the look of it. Using a decent graphics card and upgrading the drivers are the first two things that come to mind in these cases.

I had a driver upgrade done a week ago and I'd never noticed this problem before. So maybe the driver upgrade introduced this new problem.

Well if there was no other reason to update the driver, see if you can revert and verify that the issue is just since the update.

We had graphics driver problems with computers running NX-4 some time back and had to go to older drivers to remedy the problem. There is nothing beyond that to evidence a correlation, but I'd try and restore the older drivers anyway.
