When upgrading to Wildfire2 from 2000i we experienced some performance problem before the models were saved in W2 format. However that was an easy fix. The migration was otherwise very smooth and W2 is a bog step forward.
Using WinNT before we had crashes at around 1.7 GB used memory. Now with XP we were hoping to be able to use up to 2.8 GB. However we have crashes at 2.2 GB.
The biggest problem is that it seams that the memory usage is running up illogical high when a model is opened.
A cut on a drawing on a simplified representation of a model not bigger than 400 MB makes the program to crash. This is even worse than 2000i!
Also sometimes when placing a dimension on a drawing the program almost stops to respond when trying to pan or zoom.
Our IT department said it is possible top increase the process memory limit for xtop.exe to 3 GB instead of default 2. This could help somewhat but is no solution for what seams to be an abnormal increase of memory usage.
Anyone have any experiences of big models and memory usage in W2?
