I'm working on a project of CRT monitor product and trying to find a shielding metal that enables the CRT to work worldwide without being affected by the earth magnetic field at any given location. What I got from website is the MU metal(77% Nickel, 15% iron, copper, and molybdenum). Except this one, is there any other alloy simpler and cheaper than MU without compromising the performance? What crucial setup conditions should be watched out during stamping process of the MU or other metals equivalent to mu?

Is that even done on regular monitors? Gravity usually seems to be the bigger problem.

agree with IR, most monitors simply use a degaussing coil: cost and weight.
