Hello All,
We are in the stage of quotation for a water tank with an operating pressure of 16 Bars and temperature of 95c, the vertical pressure vessel is located in a confined place (limited in height).
The high pressure of 16 bars is produced due to the high rise building.
The building is limiting us to construct the heads as torispherical heads; the problem with torispherical heads is the knuckle radius, we cant do a large knuckle radius here in the local market due to its large dimension and the large head thickness. The other alternative is to buy it from the outside market which is also not very economical. We are used to fabricate the heads as hemispherical due to its economical shape. But the problem with hemispherical head in this case is the height limitation or else the client will loose alot of its required capacity.
Now i know that flat heads are not recommended due to very well reasons and i know you can’t use stiffeners for internal pressure unless other wise per U2(g).
Now my question is, is there any other standard i can design this tank with?
And also how economical is to use flatheads with stiffeners for internal pressure.
Tank diameter is around 1600mm. Constructed of stainless steel 316/316L.
Detailing is a hobby,
