I need to figure out the support spacing for a pin and box pipe connection where the pipe box is supportted vertically from one end (the box end) and the pipe pin end stabs into another pipe box. The box has pressure seals. The pin end is free to "float" in the box.
The pipe is 75 feet long.
The pipe is 316L, yeild at 25 ksi. The pipe is 2 3/8" OD and 1 7/8" ID. The pressure in the pipe, 5000 psi and also acts on the pin end, in an upward force.
What is the maximim length between supports that will still prevent buckling?
Thanks - Riser Guy
