I have a 500psi hydraulic oil line entering a governor system at a hydro-electric plant. Would changes to any part of this line be under the juristiction of ASME B31.1 Power Piping? I'm new to pressure piping and reading the scope of B31.1, it seems that it was written exlusively for boiler piping?

Kaplin,

ASME B31.1 applies to your hydraulic line if the line is indeed "piping" and not "tubing". In the section marked as "Scope" you will find that the piping code covers nearly all water, steam, hydraulic and chemical systems found in a power plant.

Is the system constructed from ANSI B36 series piping and not OD sized stainless steel tubing ? If so, use the rules of B31.1

Hope that this helps.....
