Hi all,

Mining engineer here dabbling in things he doesn't understand.

I'm trying to put something together to mount off a high pressure water trailer. Basically I want to be able to make a brush move up and down. I was wondering however if there were any motors that would run off 1200-2000 rpm high pressure water? I'd like to be able to move it between trailers, hence the reason I'm try to avoid using the generator directly.

Do these kind of motors exist?

Thanks

John

Yes, but I don't remeber the manufacturer. Google high pressure water hydraulic pumps and motors. Some subsea applications.

The phrase
if there were any motors that would run off 1200-2000 rpm high pressure water
confused me. I can't make a water source look like a 1200 rpm rotating thing. I'm going to assume that it is "psig" instead of "rpm".

In directional drilling downhole we use a "mud motor" which is a progressing cavity pump (PCP) that is driven by high pressure fluid to rotate the shaft. They don't turn very fast, but they generate a bunch of torque. For a brush moving up and down, this low speed might be just what you want. You could turn a crank shaft with your brush attachment at a speed that might even be safe.

Oops - yes I meant PSI. I'll do some googling on PCPs. Thanks
