I need to build or purchase a small high temperature rated damper or valve for bypassing a low flow around a heat exchanger. A 4" valve orfice is adequate. I found several companies that can supply valves for close to $10k. Anyone have a lead on a supplier that would have a reasonably priced valve? Leak tight is not important and temperature will be 1800F.

Thanks,

Mel

I would guess in this size range a butterfly type damper is most cost effective. Several companies make them for high-temp service, with ceramic-like or graphite bearings/seals.
