I'm looking for a DC motor capable of 1/2HP and 6150 RPM. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

At what voltage? Need long life or just a quick testing? Is cost important? Production volumes?

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

Look for a spindle drive motor.

If we learn from our mistakes I'm getting a great education!

Bodine, Bison, Groschopp, and Leeson (among others) all sell DC fractional horsepower motors. Don't know if they have any standard products that fit your requirements but if you are looking for production volumes I'm sure you can customize.

Do you need a motor, only? Or a drive system with a motor? If the latter, a PM motor and a VFD is a good choice.

28VCD, long life, drive system (not just a motor) low quantity. Specs are as follows:
Armature input voltage 28VDC
Armature operating current unload 12 amps
Armature operating loaded 28 amps
Locked rotor current 125 amps at 28 VDC.
DC armature resistanc 0.2 ohm
Brake input 28VDC
Brake input current 1.0 amps
Shunt field input 28VDC
Shunt field input current 6 amps at 28VDC
Dielectric withstanding volts 500V for 1 minute
Intermittent duty
Must be reversible
1/2 HP
6150RPM +/- 10%.
Must be somewhat compact...

That's the gist of it. I have more info if needed although I will look at the suggested sources.

This is another thread where the OP could have narrowed down the search a lot by asking for a four quadrant system that delivers 6150 RPM +/-10% at around .5 HP instead of listing all parameters for an existing(?) system.

Do you really need DC? And, must the voltage be 28 V? What is the available mains voltage? Or is there only a DC source? There are so many more sources if we can avoid locking to a detailed spec. Or is this a replacement for an existing drive that has been certified and cannot be changed?

Skogsgurra you hit the nail on the head. I cannot deviate from the spec. I need an exact replacement for an existing system. On the other hand, if I come close to an 'exact' replacement, there may be the ability to change the design requirements based on availability of the so called 'exact' drive.... Of course that might need additional engineering/mechanical changes but at least it would be a place to start.

Thanks all..
