how about drainage problems on super elevated freeways

Sticking with the Super-elevation theme:

- Comparing the physics' equations against AASHTO or DOT / Ministry of Transportation guidelines would be a good start.

- Effects of loss of coefficient of friction, i.e. icing on the roadway and impacts on travel speed.

- Review of design vehicle (PV) used for standard guidelines compared to current vehicles, trend towards hybrids, other changing trends

- Tire contact area, smaller versus larger diameter tire, wider versus narrower tread

- Review guidelines for physical pavement transitions from normal crown to super elevation, 1/3 on 2/3 off, run-out lengths, ...

How about reverse superelevation of train tracks to counteract the inward vector resulting from tractive forces on the couplers between rail cars?

Taconic State Parkway in New York State has reverse super elevation and it is not a pleasant sensation when you are doing 70 mph and I am sure has been the cause of many accidents over the yearss.
