Dear All,
Hope you are doing well,
I'm trying to model a type of energy dissipation element figure 01 ``Butterfly fuse ``, after a lot of research about the features of this device and how does it work, I could find the formulas of the strength and the stiffness for this device from the research ``Design and Behavior of Steel Plates with Openings as Energy-Dissipating Fuses``.
Figure 01
the formulas of the stiffness can be written as follow:
Figure 02
Now I'm in a part of modeling this device in SAP2000 at the base of the column as it is mentioned in figure 03 or it is more illustrated in figure 04.
Figure 03
Figure 04
My question is how to model this type of device in SAP2000? however I was thinking about the link element but its modeling required two parameters K and C, I believe this device is yielding fuse so I can model a fuse device with a frame element with plastic hinges but I don't really know how exactly, would you please give me your suggestions about that.
Thank you,
