How do you determine loads on hip & valley rafters?
Hip rafters would seem to not carry a lot of vertical loads.
Valley rafters are supposed to be loaded by the portions of the roof above them?
How are they supported between wall and ridge - with intermdeiate posts?

Any insight would be appreciated.
