It is somewhat interesting:
I learned AlNiCo is an iron alloy (I didn't know that but it's true)
Saw the process for producing flexible powder sheet magnets for refrigerators etc - pretty interesting
Heard about new research to use magnets for RAM that will be static (won't go away when you turn your computer off) and for plastic magnets.
Saw the floating frog at the high-magnetic lab in Talahassee Flordia.

Nonvolatile magnetic memories have been dreamt about and even built back in the 80's. TI was a big supplier of the so-called bubble memories. The new ones are quite different:
