Looking for very old references to the reactivity and consequences if organic vapors leak into the salt side . Dupont/API work from the '40s and 50's . Suggestions welcome . Who did Dupont sell this business to?

Coastal Chemical has Hitec Salt.

Here is a pdf on Hitec salt that has some data on the interaction of the salts and organics. We used Hitec salt to heat reactors where one of the process materials was Butane gas. The butane/air was on the tube side and we always had a few salt leaks were the molten salt got into the process side. This never caused any problems other
than cleaning up and fixing the leak at a catalyst change.

Many years ago we used a salt bath similar to the Hitec composition as well as the Virgo system to clean molten polymer from equipment. Even though the system was considered very hazardous we were fortunate in that over several years we has only one incident. We still have some candle filter elements cleaned in molten and the last time I was involved they were using a Hitec type mixture.

If you have to have that particular paper you might contact the API Org. or the Linda Hall Library.
