Hi Everyone
I want to connect a visco damper(VD) on the steel-made flange of a tower in ABAQUS. The VD is modelled USING CONNECTORS. The connectors was linked to a flange using the RP (which are tied to a flange) as per the pictur attached.
Im not getting the expected results. Now from a literature, I discovered that, the VD must be pinned to a flange.

Question: How to pin a VD(modelled as a connector in abaqus) to a flange?
Thanks!!!

For such connection you will need additional attachment point for each connection (so that the first point belongs to connector while second one belongs to flange). Then you can use for example equation constraint or MPC type PIN for each connection. Additional connector (join type) could work too.

@ FEA way Thanks for your reply.
I tried to do exactly what you explained but THE problem is, The point belonging to a connector must be tied to a connector(as we did with flange).
Now I DON'T REAALY now how to tied a point to a connector!!
Any suggestion should be welcomed!!!

Could you attach the model’s files (inp or cae) ? I would take a look to give you more detailed advice. How did you tie the reference points with flange and which type elements is used to model the flange ? Common ways of connecting RPs to geometry include the use of coupling or rigid body constraint.

Thanks once more for your reply!!!
I used RPs for flanges and it kept showing me this message:
''2 nodes are missing degree of freedoms. The MPC/Equation/kinematic coupling constraints can not be formed. The nodes have been identified in node set ErrNodeMissingDofConstrDef''
Till I have decided to partition the flange and used its partition points (No more tied on the flange).
Then I used RPs only for connectors!!!!
Everything worked fine now and Im obtaining good results!!!!
