When using the hole call out command for counterbored and countersunk holes how can you get the callout to read the saved hole name from the custom.xml file. Please help

example of what I want:

1/2 COUNTERBORE

example of what I dont want:

17/32 DIA. THRU
& 25/32 DIA. XX DEEP

Thanks

Hi,

SE will not read the name from the custom.xml. The custom.xml
will store/retrieve the settings you've made under that name
and nothing more.
The hole callout will take it's information from what you've
specified for each type of hole within it.

So for a counterbore: %ZH Counterbore should do
To modify (permanent) Format --> Style
- set Style
- Modify
- Tab: Hole Callout and optonal Tab: Smart Depth

If you look in your configuration settings, you will see a tab to fill out all of the smart hole callouts. But those will most likely end up like the example you don't want.

Have you tried saving the callouts as a "favorite"?

Can't you put the Counterbore as a text for your hole-callout, so every counterbore hole will read (Diameter) Counterbore. ?

First of all thanks to all for the replies. The problem I have here is Yes I can put CBORE in as text and then have it read the hole dia. BUT!!! unfortanatly the hole diameter does not match the screw size.

For example for a 1/2 cbore it will end up reading .531 or 17/32 CBORE.

Without changing all the geometry is there a way to make this happen?

The bigger problem is getting into the smaller screws like #10, #8, Etc.

I want the note to read CBORE FOR #10 S.H.C.S. NOT .187 and then the depth.

The whole idea is to not have to type in data. It leaves room for errors and costly mistakes on the build shop floor. I will try the things here that I have not tried yet and see. but if there is any other helpful info please respond. Thanks

Hi,

in this case follow the steps I've outlibed above
but on the Hole Callout tab specify

Counterbore (threaded) should read CBORE for %TS

which will display what is put into the holes.txt
for the thread type (4th column) i.e
CBORE for #12-24UNC

/Edit

oops! I've overlooked that your CBORE is not threaded.
In this case I think you're screwed because the thread
(screw) information is not available.
You should file an ER with UGS/your VAR to have an
additional field within the saved setting for a hole
to store any custom information that can be retrieved/used
later on in te draft
But don't expect miracles ;-)
