I was wondering if it is possible to have the number of holes called out automatically in a bolt circle.
I have constructed a bolt cirle by creating a sketch point and then using instance geometry to create a circular pattern of points. Next I used the hole wizard and selected that pattern and created the holes.
Using feature parameters I can call out each individual hole, but is there a an automated way to have NX callout 1 hole with the Qty???

When you create the instance geometry feature, a 'number of copies' parameter will be added to your model. You can add a new expression that adds 1 to this number and reference it in your callout note.

What version of NX are you running?
Are you using "master model" ?

I am using a master model and the version of NX is NX6.0.5.3

cowski, how exactly can I export that expression to the drawing file. I am a little new at this.

You may need to use Interpart Expressions passing the qty expression from the Master Model part up to the Drawing file. This would be done after you've created your Master Model drawing and it would be done FROM the Drawing file. Interpart Expressions are created in the Expression dialog. Look for the 3rd (or 4th, depending on where you start to count) icon from the left at the bottom of the Expression dialog.

Or you could use appended text as you would if you were manually entering the number. Instead of entering a "dumb" qty, in the text editor go to Relationships -> Expression -> Link to Part (choose part)-> (choose appropriate expression value). In the "Format" block (determines decimal places), you will want to change the number to "0" for a whole number qty.
Simple? Not really... Automatic? Not really, but it will be associative.

Attached is a quick example with the interpart expression. Which reminds me, you may need to allow interpart modeling for this to work. Play with these files, if they don't work you may need to enable interpart modeling in your customer defaults.

Thanks for the help everyone.

cowski, I will give you suggestions a try and if there is anything that comes up I will let you know.

Thanks again.
