Hole Wizard not working after 2011 upgrade

Hello.
Lots of questions on here from me lately as we've upgraded SW and OS.
Hole Wizard is causing a crash every time it is used since we upgraded to 2011.
I suspect it is because we keep all our common toolbox and hole wizard files on a server and the installations of 2011 were done on each machine locally, meaning the data on the server is still 2009.
Does anyone know the procedure for updating the data on the server, given that all the client machines are already upgraded.

I keep the common data on the server in version specific folders so that we can run multiple version during the transition. I begin by copying the server data to the new folder and pointing the installers to that folder. The first installer through updates the files.

From your current state, I would copy the 2009 files into a version specific folder and then reinstall SW on one of the machines, pointing it at the 2011 folder. After the install on that machine has completed, I would then update the folder locations of the other machines to point at the new location.

You could copy the common files from one of your machines up to the server, but that will loose toolbox customizations and trigger the giant fastener phenomenon.

Ok, maybe this can work, I'm going to be running some tests in SP4 (we are on SP3) on one machine, so maybe I can get that to update the files, I'll probably keep the new files under the same file name though, I don't want to be going round changing settings on everyone's machines (there's a lot, and they're never all in the building I work in)

If I were to copy the common files from one machine, which folders do I need to take? Also, what is the giant fastener phenomenom, that sounds fun.

You can also run the CheckWizard from the toolbox and make a copy of your current SolidWorks setup. Copy that to a safe place and then use restore configuration to setup personal settings after installation.

Hey, that was weird, it cut the front off my post.

It should of read:
How do I run the CheckWizard from the toolbox?

Find UpdateBrowserData.exe in your 2011 install. Run that on your network swBrowser.mdb file. That should be all you need to do.

-handleman, CSWP (The new, easy test)

when I try to run updatebrowserdata it crashes. Do I need to get everyone to close their SolidWorks first?

OK, this problem has taken a weird turn.

Since I was having the issue on my machine and the test machine, I assumed it would be a problem for everyone else, but this is not the case.

It's only affecting me!

And by me, I don't mean my computer. If someone else logs on to the test machine, they can run hole wizard fine. I have tried using copy settings wizard to use this person's settings on my machine, but it still doesn't work. I have tried not logging into the vault, nope. I've run out of ideas.

Steve,

Not really a helpful post here but more of a condoling one. Just to say I've had problems with multiple installs and different versions of SolidWorks with the Hole Wizard myself. It can quite annoying to resolve. Toolbox is exactly the same kind of cookie (if you have Professional or Premium)
