Holes in a sphere

I want to make holes at different angles in a sphere. I can not give the dimensions from reference point to locate the holes. Does some one have an idea of how to locate the holes on a sphere.

Are you asking for advice on how to model this or on how to create a detail? We cut spheres on a daily basis. For the detail drawings we specify each hole y degrees down from north pole, and x degrees along the equator from a datum plane. The origin of the part is usually the center of the sphere. Most holes are cut towards the origin but now and then a hole may be offset. These are specified same as described above only with an additional x,y offset.

You can offset planes to make holes or use the Hole Wizard to make the holes. If you use Hole Wizard Don't pick the surface first. Just start HW and put in the data, then put your points on the Sphere.

I want to make holes at different angles in a sphere.

Are you making the holes normal to the sphere surface (hole axis goes through sphere center)? Or are the holes skewed (not through center)? Also, is the sphere hollow?

If you are making the hole through the center, perhaps start with a 3D sketch. In the 3D sketch, sketch a line with one end constrained to the sphere center and the other end coincident with the sphere surface. Dimension the line angles (latitude and longitude) with respect to reference planes or other sketched lines that go through the sphere center to control angle parameters.

Once the sketch line is made, use it to create a plane on the sphere surface using the plane option "Normal to curve", and sketch your hole on that plane.

Also, the holes could either be cut extrudes or cut revolves, depending on your approach.
