We have a guy who opens a file and all the holes look hexed. In the past we always just went to Preferences Visualization under the Faceting tab and checked the two boxes. This made the holes nice and round.

Its not working for this guy.

Strangely, he can open a detail and it will be round. The assembly has the hexed circles. If I open the same file on my computer, it is fine. So it seems to only happen to some files with his computer. Which makes me think it may be a windows 10 setting instead?

Are there any other settings to try in NX11?

All "round holes" in NX are described by exact math, but then these holes needs to be displayed in shaded mode on your screen, and to do this, the faces are "tesselated" and these planar facets are what's shown on the screen. If the number of facets are too low, the holes look "hexed", if the number of facets is too high, the display looks good but the display time is "too long".
so, this is a balancing act between poor display versus slow graphics.
The "Visualization Performance" tries to do it's best of this situation., you can start by testing the "model size" variable.

Investigating deeper, it seems as if this problem becomes more pronounced with the larger the file. With a small detail, the hexes are tiny and when he hits Update Display, it clears up. With assemblies, the hexes are much larger and update display doesnt have an effect.

I.T. thought it might be the video card driver and we re-installed the driver. Didnt change a thing.

None of his other stuff seems to have this problem. In fact we use two different NX11's as one is attached to GM toolkits. In the non-GM NX11 he doesnt have this problem. Just in the one NX we use for GM work. So this leads me to believe this is just a setting somewhere.

Thanks Toost. I am unsure what you mean by testing the model size variable. Sorry.

Found the problem. After hours of digging, and the answer was put right in front of me right from the start. Another thing I did was show him where to save his load options as default because it kept reverting to lightweight parts.

I should have recognized that immediately. All he had to do is "show exact" to the parts or load them all the way up.

One of those forehead slappers! lol
