Hi,
I have a job to check a rather unusual connection.
I have a I beam column terminating on the top of a rectangular hollow section.
the I beam is subject to tension, and is trying to 'rip' the wall of the hollow section out.
Checks which come to mind:
- shear of i beam area on hollow section wall. (sort of reverse punching shear
- check the vertical sides of the hollow section for buckleing.
I imagine there may be design models out on the internet somewhere?
any help appreciated. can provide pics when my scanner is back online.
