Honeycomb construction

Hi all!

I am currently working on a project which involves the construction and FEA of Honeycomb structures. Previously, I used CATIA V5 to create these honeycombs however I have been advised by my supervisor to use Abaqus. I am finding this difficult as I am unfamiliar with the programme. I construct 6 straight lines and use dimensions and constraint functions to create a basic honeycomb shape. I then use the transfer function to create a pattern. Surely there must be an easier and more accurate of doing this. I would be very grateful if anyone could be of any assistance with this.

A regular structure is easy to parametrize and create with a python script.

But maybe you ask your supervisor first, why he wants you to create it with /CAE.
