HELLO EVERYONE! FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS MY GRATTITUDE TO ALL THE HELPFUL TIPS ABOUT THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF COMPUTING, NOW MY QUESTION RELATES TO PULL DOWN MENUS IN AUTOCAD LT 2000i, I WAS ASSIGNED THE TASK OF CREATING A NEW PULL DOWN MENU WHICH WILL BE CALLED PART NUMBERS, IN THAT PULL DOWN MENU I WILL HAVE SEVERAL SUB MENUS WITH THE DIFFERENT PART NUMBER DRAWINGS SHOWN AS THEY ARE CASCADING, NOW MY FIRST QUESTION WOULD BE, WHAT KIND OF PROGRAM WILL BE THE BEST BET TO START THE PROGRAM, AND SECOND DOES ANYBODY KNOW OR HAS EXPERIENCE IN DOING SO?

IN REALITY IS SEEMS REAL HARD TO ME, BUT I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF SMART(EXPERINCED) PROFESIONALS IN HERE (UNLIKE MYSELF) WHO WOULD BE APPRECIATED FOR THEIR SUPPORT TO A PROFESSIONALLY HUNGRY YOUNG AUTOCAD DESIGNER.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE AND I CERTAINLY AWAIT FOR YOUR COMMENTS.

In AutoCAD 14 you can create pull down menus by editing the acad.mns or acad.mnu file. You have to be really carefull when doing this tho - you could really mess up your AutoCAD - usually it's safe to copy a back up file to make sure you can always restore it. To actually tell you how to do this would take quite awhile - the best advice that I can give you is to read it till you understand what it's doing, find the pattern of the other pull down menus and copy/edit one of them to get what you want. Once you get the pattern down it's very simple. If you've done any programming at all you should be able to create menus in no time. Hope this helps...

Very easy to do, pain in the neck to explain.
Don't create it in the autocad *.mns file though, for two reasons: 1 you might mess up acad. 2 if you ever reinstall acad, it will overwrite your customisation and you've lost it for ever.

Have a look in the online help for 'creating pulldowns'
If you really can't get on, email me jbowen@tcd.centrax.co.uk and I'll send you one of my own pull down menus, with a couple of explanantions in there about how it works.
