Hi Everyone!
I want to obtain the forces (M,N,V) in a pile when applying horizontal ground displacement on it. I am just playing around with SAP2000 so I have created a very simple model to simulate both the horizontal displacement of the ground and the P-Y curves. I have defined a 'MultiLinear Plastic' link (type 'Kinematic') and added an arbitrary p-y curve there. Then I have created a vertical frame object and a 2 joint link. One side of the link is connected to the pilehead and the other is fixed. Then I add a 10mm horizontal displacement to the joint on the grounded side of the link and run a static non-linear load case.
Bending moment remains constant regardless of the P-Y curve. Why is that? bending moment should change when I change the P-Y curve, shouldn't it?
I have attached the model for your reference and a couple of screenshots.
Cheers,
Marky
