Recently purchased a 10 cubic yard horizontal ribbon mixer for concrete. What is a reasonable dynamic model for simulating the folding/mixing of the material in a drum? I'm trying to find out why the shaft seal is failing. From inspection it looks as if the shaft is undersized and deflecting at the seal. I wish to calculate the required shaft and horsepower based on the action of the mixer. I want to simulate the force of the ribbon blades through the mix and the mix against the drum use those results to size the shaft. If there are any other forces related to this action please enlighten me. Thanks
