Hi,
I am designing a horizontal pressure vessel and it is supported by 2 off saddles. I am using PVElite design software to design these saddles, but this program doesn't say anywhere or doing any calculations with regards to weld size we need to be using for all the welds on this saddle support. My concern is - this is a very large pressure vessel and has a very high design temperature (575 deg C), to use any weld sizes on this vessel supports without actually doing any calculations.
My question is how do we determine the size of the weld to use on the saddles? is there a calculation provided in any books or code to determine the weld sizes? i have referred the D Moss book procedure 3-10 and 3-11 i couldn't find any info in this book with respect to calculating the weld size.
I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out with a solution to the above problem.
Thank You,
RAJ
