Ok so I think I have asked this but did not get the answer I was looking for. I am looking for a standard dimension spec for hose barbs that use clamps. Similar to the type of barb used here.

I have found the SAEJ2552 push on hose stadard, but it doesnt tell you barb dimensions and appears to just talk about push on clampless single barb fittings. I found this ASTM D 2609 but it seems to be for plastic fittings, and the images are hard to see and looks like the closest drawing looks like it has flat spots behind each barb instead of the barbs connecting in a row like the mcmaster carr image. Any help here would be great. The hose will be reinforced EPDM hose with glychol water mix as the fluid. THanks

I used to work at a place that made refrigeration hoses.
I never found a standard for hose barbs, much less a design guide.
Some hoses will work with a single barb, some need multiple barbs, some need multiple clamps, IMHO.
I suggest you make something you think will work, and test it, a lot, under the operating conditions you can anticipate. ... and be very cautious about changing hose construction, or even the supplier.

SAE J 2552... I have this, but like I said, it appears to only suit clampless hose barbs. I am looking specifically for like a triple style hose barb you neeed to use a clamp on, something must exist, just don't know where to look, or there was never a standard for it.

I've looked too and I don't think such a standard exists, although I think it should.

I used to use a Paccar standard, but that's no good to you I'm sure.

If you have a supplier or customer whose barb or hose you have to interface to, surely they can guide you to the applicable standard. Or are you actually operating in a vacuum? (no pun intended! ;))

Your answer is probably on this website:

To get you started, enter "AN849" on the DOCUMENT ID line, for an example that I can think of off the top of my head.
If that's not exactly the kind of hose nipple you want, don't worry, there are 1000 more. Expand your search using this example.
I won't try to introduce you to the dark art of using the Assist website search engine. It's not Google, is all I can say.
