Hot glue composition question 2

Anybody know what hot glue, like "glue stix" are made of and is there any chemical difference (other than % ingredients) in the composition between hi and lo melt temperature versions?

From what little information I can find online, most seem to be ethylene vinyl acetate and/or derivatives thereof. No specific information, sorry.

I2I, perfect clue. If UR interested, Found this little gem on Wiki,

EVA is also used in Biomedical Engineering applications as a drug delivery device. The polymer is dissolved in an organic solvent (e.g., methylene chloride). Powdered drug and filler (typically an inert sugar) are added to the liquid solution and rapidly vortexed to obtain a homogeneous mixture. The drug-filler-polymer mixture is then cast into a mold at -80 degrees and freeze dried until solid. These devices are used in drug delivery research to slowly release a compound over time. While the polymer is not biodegradable within the body, it is quite inert and causes little or no reaction following implantation.

EVA is also the same material found at the bottom of many tennis shoes.

So, I conclude that I should probably be looking elsewhere for the cause.

I believe that most hot glues are required to meet FDA standards. Maybe that negates the need for a sensitivity study?

At least it appears to be, "Not hazardous" according to directive 67/548/EC.

I can't find anything incriminating about it.

You probably have to register to use the site but it is quite useful. There are many different types of hot melts. Some are based on low molecular weight polyethylene waxes plus tackifier ingredients.
