The benefits of HIP bonding (Stellite hardfacing of valve in this instance) as opposed to welding is one of improved wear and corrosion.

Is anyone aware of disadvantages of the HIP bonding technique with respect to valves.

Thanks in advance

So far only good reports of Stellite seats in stainless.

There are people using HIPped materials for valve body components. The cleanlines, grain size and strength properties are better than cast or forged equivalents.
