HOT TAPPING - GAS PIPELINE - 52" - 42"

Dear all, good day to everybody,
I kindly request to all the specialist a help on the following matter :
I have to do a HOT TAPPING on GAS pipeline existing 52" and 42".
As far as I understand, for HOT TAPPING in GAS LINE is required to do a BYPASS in order to cut and install a new piece.
In my case I have 52"x14" and 42"x14", in this case will be a WELDOLET, and not BARRED TEE, I'm expecting.
In your opinion make WELDOLET 52"x14" and 42"x14" will not create a problem of PIG STUCK, I'm right?
Your opinion is really appreciated.

You need to tell us the thickness and you should discuss with an experienced hot tap contractor to do the work.

Those branch sizes should be OK, but would be better if you could install something, but if this is a hot tap then its a hot tap, not a bypass.

What are you trying to do?

Try looking at TD willainsons site which hat hot tap and stopple if you need a cut out, but there are many ways to skin this cat.

Those weldolets will be fair sized chunks of metal and will require a hefty weld in a concentrated location. For the sizes, should be looking at a split tee, or similar branch connection.

Agree with the wisdom of SJones .... Weldolets are commonly not the best choice for larger (>6"NPS) piping systems.

In addition to the risk of weld distortion, the actual welding of the branch may take an excessive amount of time ....
