How are Refurb HP Workstations

Anyone have experience with recent (1yr) refurbished HP workstations from HP business group? I'm looking for feedback on the reliability, performance and warranty repairs.

Just make sure you buy a warranty if they offer one. They're refurbished for many reasons and you could end up with someone elses problem. A coworker bought a refurbished HP PC and had nothing but problems.

Is this a HP UNIX workstation or a HP PC Workstation? PCs are so much more cost effective these days why would anyone consider running unix.

This is an Operton XP Pro workstation - Unix OS will not be used.

I bought a Compaq/HP business laptop last year off the website. Do some poking around, you can learn to decipher what the product codes mean, it's not unusual to score a machine that was was ordered custom configured but never shipped. It doesn't hurt to call them either, they'll give you the history of the unit you're looking at. I got a great deal on mine, 40% off list, with a three year repair/replacement/accidental damage warranty.
