Hi

We have a problem with how best to Mark / Identify the steel work which we manufacture ( typically platforms and staircases ) to comply with The National Structural Steelwork Specification For Building Construction CE regs.
I believe that all components need to have an identifying mark on them so they can be traced back to the material certificate they were made from etc as per 4.1 in the Speciification.
And in un-galvanised mild steel we Hard stamp it which works ok if not a bit laborious . But with Galvanised steel the hard stamp gets lost under the galvanised finish & we have been informed we can't weld on identifying numbers to the steel because this is now not the CE done thing , is this right ?.

So just wondered how other people are getting around this issue .
any help would be appreciated .
We are Execution class 2 by the way

Chris
