on the same phase, is there a limit for the distance between any two successive insulators? (regardless of maintenance requirement)

for SA, I have seen a half phase - to - earth clearance requirement and full phase to earth on the grounded part. Is this applicable to other equipment not around SA?

Any clue?

What do you mean by successive insulators? Post or pin type insulators supporting the same conductor? What installation? Overhead line? Outdoor substation bus?

Two pin or post type insulators supporting an overhead distribution line conductor on double crossarms is common. This would put the insulators spaced at the pole diameter plus the crossarm width, about 25 cm.

in a substation, if we need two post insulators to support a conductor, or a tube, just next to each other.

is 25 cm dependent on voltage? similar to Surge arrestor case?
