I want to make my own dip coater. A dipcoater is used to coat a sample by pulling it out of the liquid at a controlled rate. I am using a servo motor with a horizontal shaft. I cannot visualise how I will connect my sample to this motor so that it will raise and lower my sample into the liquid. Could you please help?

thank you

I would think that an ACME or Ball Screw would also be good candidates.

how about a chain running around two sprockets.
attach a hook to the chain, and arrange the sprockets and chain speed to pull the part at your desired rate.
this doesn't really require a servomotor, but you can use that to control speed and/or direction...

Actually, the type of drive you are searching for shoudl be decided after we know the accuracy of your work. For example, as you say you are using a servo motor, I believe that you are working with highly accurate figures. If you could tell us how accurate the control should be, then we could suggest something more suitable.
