How do I find alternate sources of "equivalent" materials?

Our company has a product whose exposed parts call for a powder coat finish using a White Polyester Urethane made by Powder Technology, Inc. in Schofield. Their part number is PT-US85-WS25 33-4-8.

The problem is that this material no longer is on their "stock item" list due to low quantities being sold and the price has skyrocketed. When I spoke to their Technical Director, he said he couldn't recommend a substitute due to a resin in the 33-4-8 White that gives it improved chem resistance and other benefits.

I'm new to this and what I'd like to know is how I might be able to find an equivalent or alternate coating that would perform to our requirements. This is an outdoor instrument with a service temperature of -50°C to +60°C. Many of these units are used in a marine environment and the coated parts have a base material of 5052-H34, 5052-H32, or 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy, or 304 SST.

Can someone please help me out?

Thanks,

Tim
