How do I get rid of this warning?

The following warnings were issued while loading.

[Location of File] - Read-only part is modified, it will not be possible to save the changes.

If you are running Teamcenter, you will have to check out the file to be able to save changes to it.

If you are not running Teamcenter, you (or the current owner) will have to change the permissions on the file.

 

[looslib]

If in TC, you can only check it our if you have permission to do so and no one else has it checked it.

If the file is on a local or network drive, close the file and change the file permissions, then reopen the file.

You could also do a Save As to a new name.

I can't comment on what you'd do when using Teamcenter, but if you're running Native, this message is controlled by a setting in Customer Defaults. To change this and other settings which you might see while working with Read-Only part files, go to...

Customer Defaults -> Assemblies -> General -> Miscellaneous

...and you'll find what you're looking for there.

PLM systems are good if you have to use one, but they also come with a cost, usually very high.

The size and location of your engineering/manufacturing team plays a part into the decision to implement a package like Teamcenter.
If you have 5-10 engineers all in one area and they comunicate well, there may not be a compelling need.
If you have 5-10 engineers spread out globally, then the need to share data becomes more critical and you need to have something to tell others what each one is working on.

On the other hand, 35-50 engineers and mabufacturing people in one building may be enough to justify the expense and 'painful' experience of implementing Teamcenter or any other PLM system.
