I am new to microstation and I am having trouble converting a microstation v8 drawing into a microstation v7 drawing. It started as an AutoCad drawing and I imported it into Version 8. Then I found where I could do a "save as" to save it as a version 7 drawing. Everytime I do, I get an error and then it creates the file, but it is empty and the file size is 0kb. Can someone please helpl me.

There is a perfectly functional Autocad forum on this site

The ACAD forum won't really help. If there is a dgn forum, that might do it. ACAD can't/won't/whatever open anything but dwg.

Our firm has both, I only use ACAD. I can tell you that we keep our cells (what ACAD folks call Blocks, I gather) carefully separated by V7 and V8, with strict directives not to open V7 files using V8. I would guess, from that, that something happens to make them unusable in V7 again.

This should have been addressed at the Bentley:Microstation page. to do this you will need to use the saveas command and change the format to V7. Works for me.
