Hi,

In my office we call up beam reinforcing on beam elevations. I have seen other office's drawings where the reo is called up on plan.

Which way is more common, and which way do you believe is better in general?

We always show rebar in beams in elevation. This gives a clearer indication of which bars are in the top and bottom faces.

We always provide beam schedule along with typical elevation & sections. Schedules can be easily generated from programs like RAM Concrete etc.,

I use beam and wall elevations as well as cross-sections for further detail.

I also use the ACI Detailing Manual-1988.
