How does Abaqus calculate the plastic strain with UMAT?

Hi all,

I have two questions:
1. I understand that at the end of the UMAT the stress and Jacobian(DDSDDE) tensors must be passed back to Abaqus. But How does Abaqus calculate the strain with the updated stress and Jacobian?

2. How does Abaqus differentiate the elastic strain and plastic strain in the total strain?
