I'm modelling wear for a cylinder-on-plate configuration. I have applied loading in two steps: normal load followed by oscillatory tangential displacement. I'm using UMESHMOTION along with tangential displacement step to model the wear by extracting contact pressure and contact slip from the Abaqus using following equation.: ULOCAL(NDIM)=ULOCAL(NDIM)-K*CPRESS*CSLIP1.
Now, the confusion is, how does Abaqus calculate the value of ULOCAL? Because even if I don't use above equation or make any reference to (update) ULOCAL in UMESHMOTION subroutine, still Abaqus shows up some values for ULOCAL in .msg file which I'm not able to comprehend. Moreover, these values are considerable large, of the order of e-2 or e-3. This is actually creating problem because I want Abaqus to bypass the geometry update during step increments and apply cumulative wear after the completion of one cycle. Any suggestion on how to rectify this?
Thanks & Regards,
