how is it possible to check the surface normal direction?

Hi All

in abaqus help this feature can only flip the surface normal direction , but who is it possible to know tht direction before hand in scripting ,specially some surfaces change their normal direction when i change their dimension and in scripting need to be checked , then in case needed flipped
