Not that I have found as yet, and I've had several hundered vieports in one layout.

MAXACTVP controls the number of viewports that are active (REGENERATED) at one time. They will still plot, wether they are active or not. Use MAXACTVP to reduce regerartion time by turning off VIEWPORTS that have been completed.

R12NV,

I can't give a definitive answer as to the maximum number, but can give an example of my own experience. At present, I have a project going with over 30 separate layouts (as opposed to viewports) and have each setup to go to their own independent plotting devices (2 different plotters with multiple sheet sizes). Each layout is uniquely named relative to its use and when I'm ready to plot them all, I select all tabs at once, right-click and select plot. Very convenient.

Hope this helps. Jeff Foster, PE

CADaver,

Is that viewports or layouts that you are creating? Just curious.

Are we talking LAYOUTS or VIEWPORTS (windows)? 256 is the maximum number of LAYOUTS allowed. I have not found a maximum number of VIEWPORTS. I have a test file with 4096 VIEWPORTs in each of 256 LAYOUTs. I can then drop in different models and do benchmark timing tests and file size tests.

CADaver,

Just wanted to get that cleared up. The original question seems to indicate that it was about Layouts but certainly could have been taken either way. Needless to say, the question has been answered.

Thanks,
